Tau Game Lodge - Madikwe Game Reserve, Northwest Provinve [South Africa]
On the far northern border of South Africa lies a beautiful area known as the Great Marico and it is in this spectacular setting, in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, that Tau Game Lodge is situated. Madikwe Game Reserve is currently the country's fourth largest game reserve and is is situated in the North West Province bordering Botswana to the north, the spectacular Dwarsberg Mountains to the south and the Marico river to the east.
Rooms:
30 chalets are spread out in U-formation on either side of the lodge, offering excellent views of animals approaching the water. Each chalet has its own wooden deck, which allows one to experience the bush in privacy. The lodge has a 5 star rating and chalets are equipped with air-conditioning as well as ceiling fans, mini-bars and an en-suite bathroom as well as an open-air shower.
Conferencing:
The "state of the art" Conference Centre assures privacy to corporate groups and a refreshing environment for team and personal development opportunities, without compromising the bush experience. It is the only facility of its kind in the Madikwe Game Reserve. The main hall of the 270sq m convention center can accommodate up to 150 delegates and is made up of three sub-halls (average of 11x7.6m each), each of which can operate independently or together via a touch-screen control system. High quality, strategically placed equipment has been installed in the 3 sub-halls and all systems have been integrated and configured to maximize performance and enhance aesthetic qualities.
Activities:
Twice daily your expert guide will take you on a game viewing drive lasting between 2 and 3 hours in an open vehicle. Madikwe boasts 27 species of mammals including the Big 5, cheetah and Black rhino and the endangered wild dog. Also available are a host of activities specifically for groups and incentives.
Getting There:
Tau Game Lodge is situated an easy 4 hours driving distance from Johannesburg or a 50-minute daily scheduled flight from Johannesburg International Airport.
Best Time To Travel:
Anytime of the year, but during the dry winter months the waterhole offers magnificent viewing from the chalets or the lodge.
