Governors' Camp - Masai Mara Game Reserve - Eastern Africa [Kenya]
Governors' Camp is situated on the banks of the Mara River in the west of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Created in 1972, it set new standards in luxury as a tented camp, putting particular emphasis on comfort and service. Maintaining these unique qualities as a tradition, the camp has been refined and improved throughout the years.
Rooms:
Governors' Camp has 36 luxury guest tents and 1 Honeymoon Suit. All guest facilities are under canvas and keep the authentic, traditional safari atmosphere. All guest tents have en-suite bathrooms with shower and basin, running hot and cold water as well as flush toilets. Gas and paraffin lamps are used for lighting.
Conferencing:
Mueda or Boardroom with seating for 12 delegates. Mussoma Room has seating for 60 delegates and the Cabo Delgado conference room has a seating capacity for 220 delegates. All conference rooms have wall-to-wall carpeting, air-conditioning & standard equipment.
Activities:
Game drives: 3 game drives per day, early and mid morning as well as the afternoon with experienced driver guides in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Balloon Safari: With professional balloon pilots daily, at dawn, in the Masai Mara Game Reserve followed by a champagne bush breakfast and game drive on return to camp
Game walks: Daily, with qualified guides in a private concession area adjacent to the Masai Mara Game Reserve; morning with a champagne bush breakfast and afternoon with sundowners and canapés.
Culture: Visits to a nearby Masai village can be arranged or visits to the local school, one of Governors' Camps charity and community support initiatives.
Getting There:
Very regular scheduled flights from Nairobi to nearby airstrip. Road transfer from Nairobi appx six hours
Best Time To Travel:
The Masai Mara is a year round game viewing destination. However, the months of July to October during the Great Wildebeest Migration are considered to be the best game viewing months of the year.
Health:
The Masai Mara is a malarial area, appropriate precautions recommended.
